Peyron Ranch sits at the northern edge of this arid landscape, where the drainage networks of the Sonoran Desert define the topography. The terrain is structured by a series of prominent washes, including Tascuela Wash, San Juan Wash, and Champurrado Wash, which cut through the high ground of the Black Hills and Peñitas Hills. This environment is a study in desert water management, evidenced by the numerous tanks such as Soldado Tank, Buddy Tank, and Morro Tank scattered across the quadrangle to support cattle or wildlife in the heat.
