Wrangell and the sprawling glacial delta of the Stikine River dominate this coastal Alaskan landscape. The complex interplay of water and land is visible in the network of tidal channels and distributaries including Andrew Slough and North Arm. Much of the territory is protected under the Stikine-Leconte Wilderness and Tongass National Forest, preserving a wilderness where sediment deposits have created unique features like the sandy expanse known as The Desert.
