1999 Map of Pigeon Point

USGS Topo · Published 2003

About this map

The Pigeon Point peninsula stretches into the cold waters of Lake Superior, marking the easternmost extremity of Minnesota along the international border. This 1999 update of mid-century surveys shows the complex boundary line where the Pigeon River flows past Grand Portage State Park and into the lake, punctuated by dramatic drops at Middle Falls and Pigeon Falls. The landscape is characterized by the rugged archipelago of the Susie Island group, including Lucille Island and Magnet Island, which lie just offshore from the Grand Portage Indian Reservation.
