Cibola National Forest encompasses the high country of this New Mexico quadrangle, where the rugged terrain is defined by Pine Canyon and the prominent Tusas Mesa. The settlement of Bluewater serves as a primary point of interest along Bluewater Rd, while the small community of Las Tusas is situated to the east near the Las Tusas Valley Co Rd. The landscape is a network of drainage systems, with Cottonwood Creek and Sawyer Creek carving through the canyons. A legacy of ranching and remote land management is evident in features like the Tusas Mesa Stock Tank and an extensive system of motorized trails, such as Motorized 318 Trl and Motorized 204 Trl, which navigate the elevation changes between the McKinley and Cibola county lines.
