Pine serves as a central point in this mountain landscape where the South Fork Boise River feeds into the expansive Anderson Ranch Reservoir. Located at the boundary between the Boise National Forest and Sawtooth National Forest, the area is defined by its recreation-focused geography, including the Pine Airport and its accompanying Pine-Airport Boat Ramp. The topography transitions from the high peaks of the Soldier Mountains in the northeast down through numerous drainages like Caldwell Gulch and Skelton Gulch.
