Cedar Cr Reservoir dominates the southern half of this Northwest Alabama landscape, its branched fingers reaching deep into the winding hollows of the Highland Rim. Along the border of Colbert Co and Franklin Co, the terrain is defined by a dense network of cemeteries and small rural settlements. The unique Coon Dog Cemetery is located in the northwest corner, a site of specific cultural interest, while other family-named burial grounds like Tompkins Cem and Massey Cem are scattered near the reservoir's edge. The road network, including Al-247 and numerous county roads, connects local communities such as Pleasant Grove and White Oak. Numerous bridges, including Burgess Bridge and Thorn Bridge, facilitate travel across the many creek branches like Little Rock Cr and Taylor Br that feed into the larger water system.
