The Goddard Covered Bridge marks the northwest corner of this Fleming County landscape, where the waters of Sand Lick Cr wind through a terrain defined by narrow hollows and high ridges. The area’s rural development is centered on small crossroads communities like Plummers Landing, Muses Mills, and Ringos Mills, the latter of which features the historic Ringos Mills Bridge. This 2013 survey illustrates a deeply rooted social geography, preserving the locations of numerous family and church burial grounds, including the Jackson Family Cem, Mt Vernon Cem, and the Muses Mills Church Cem. The topography is dominated by significant elevations such as Bishop Mountain and Sand Mountain, with the plateau of Maxey Flats overlooking a network of drainages including Fox Cr and Indian Cr.
