Port Austin and Grind Stone City anchor the northern tip of Michigan’s Thumb, where the land meets Lake Huron at several prominent capes and bays. The topography is defined by the jagged shoreline of Pointe aux Barques and Burnt Cabin Point, separated by the waters of Alaska Bay. Inland, the landscape is marked by an extensive network of agricultural drainage systems including Baranski Drain, Cramp Drain, and Dwight Drain, which feed into natural watercourses like Grant Creek.
