Latham sits at the northern edge of this Le Flore County landscape, where the flatlands near Brazil Creek meet the rising terrain of Latham Ridge. The map reveals a dispersed settlement pattern typical of the Ouachita foothills, with small communities like Bordeaux and Dog Creek connected by a network of winding roads such as Calhoun Rd and Latham Rd. Genealogists will find particular value in the documentation of the Long Prairie Cem near the northern boundary and the Dog Creek Cem further south.

The topography is dominated by several distinct heights, including Pikes Peak, Russell Mtn, and the namesake Potato Peaks in the east.
