The Warm Springs Indian Reservation dominates this 1960s landscape, where high plateaus and deep watercourses define the geography of northern Jefferson County. The transition from the open expanses of Mill Creek Flat and Miller Flat into the dramatic descent of Wolford Canyon illustrates the complex drainage patterns of the region. Water sources were clearly vital for land management here, as evidenced by the namesake Potters Ponds and the established livestock sites at Sidwalter Corral and Boulder Corral.
