Paradise Valley is defined by the sweeping course of the Yellowstone River, which serves as the central artery for this high-country landscape. In the late 1980s, the area retained a distinctly agrarian character, supported by an extensive network of irrigation infrastructure including the Park Branch Canal, Highline Ditch, and Paradise Canal. Small clusters of activity are found at Pray and Chicory, while the legacy of earlier transportation is visible in the Old Railroad Grade that parallels the river.
