Proctor sits at the southern edge of this mid-1960s survey, marking a small pocket of settlement where Proctor Creek and Ronan Creek emerge from the high timber. The landscape transitions sharply here from the dense canopy of the Flathead National Forest to the open valley floor, where the Flathead Indian Reservation Boundary cuts across the lower third of the map. Local life at this time centered around the Community Ch and several family-named water sources, including Indian Spring, Foss Spring, and Bickford Spring.
