M Ranch and the Coffee Cup Ranch represent the sparse human footprint in this high desert landscape of Presidio County during the mid-1970s. The topography is dominated by the massif of San Jacinto Mountain to the south and the prominent peak of Cerro Boludo near the center of the quadrangle. Drainage patterns are defined by the ephemeral Puerto Potrillo Creek and the winding course of Vetas Creek, which carve through the terrain toward the broad expanse of Green Valley.
