The Rogue River carves through the northern reaches of this Curry County landscape, passing the riverside settlement at Fry Landing and the northern trailhead at Bacon Flat. This 2011 survey reveals a terrain defined by steep drainage systems and prominent high points, where the winding Agness Rd and Silver Creek Rd provide the primary access to this interior wilderness. To the south, the headwaters of the Pistol River and Lawson Creek originate among a series of named summits, including the distinctive Quosatana Butte and Sugarloaf Mountain.
