Rattlesnake Mtn and Baldy Mtn dominate this portion of Lewis and Clark County, where the topography is defined by a dense network of gulches and seasonal drainages. In the northeast, Hilger Valley transitions into the steep relief of Towhead Gulch, while the southern reaches are marked by the distinctive Copper Butte and McLeod Basin. The area's hydrology is carved by several named waterways, including Clark Cr and Willow Cr in the west, and Ming Cr and Beartooth Cr to the east.
