Red Basin defines this high desert landscape in Owyhee County, where the southern portion of the quadrangle is dominated by the winding course of the Owyhee River. This 2010 survey illustrates a region shaped by water management and ranching, with scattered landmarks such as Ryan Pasture and the Crutcher Crossing providing evidence of human activity in an otherwise austere terrain. Significant elevation changes are marked by Defeat Ridge and the Lambert Table to the east, while drainage from the West Fork Red Canyon and East Fork Red Canyon feeds into the central basin. Numerous water sources, including Potter Reservoir, Big Bend Reservoir, and Craig Spring, highlight the essential nature of water storage and natural seeps for the area's livestock and wildlife.
