1971 Map of Red Pass

USGS Topo · Published 1974

About this map

The Cricket Mountains dominate the eastern half of this 1971 survey, creating a dramatic vertical barrier between the arid basin and the lowlands to the west. At the base of these peaks, the Sevier River winds through a complex network of Sand Dunes and a deep topographic Depression before reaching the terminal expanse of Sevier Lake. The map illustrates a high-desert environment where water management is critical, evidenced by a Reservoir and Bitterweed Lake at the northern edge of the sheet.
