The town of Rennert sits at the heart of this Robeson County landscape, where the flat coastal plain is deeply defined by a complex network of wetlands and namesake pocosin-like features. To the east and south, the drainage systems of Big Marsh Swamp and Tenmile Swamp dictate the local geography, punctuated by distinctive sandy areas known as The Desert, Great Desert, and Blue Desert. These higher, drier ground pockets contrast sharply with the surrounding hydric features like Sewell Bay and Cypress Bay.
