1968 Map of Ridgedale Pass

USGS Topo · Published 1972

About this map

Ridgedale Pass serves as a critical geographic transition point in the high desert terrain of northern Utah, where the Pocatello Valley meets the lower reaches of Blue Creek Valley. Surveyed in the late 1960s, the landscape is defined by the stark ridge lines of the West Hills and a sparse network of agricultural infrastructure. Several clusters of Storage Bins and a isolated Well indicate the importance of water management and grain storage in this arid ranching environment. The presence of the Indian Trail winding through the southeastern slopes suggests long-established routes of travel that predated the modern road system. This topographic study also delineates the high-altitude border between Utah and Idaho, marking the political divide between Oneida and Box Elder counties.
