The Trinity River defines the landscape of this region, winding through a complex system of bottomlands, oxbow lakes, and marshy breaks. To the north and east, the Big Thicket National Preserve protects the biological diversity of the coastal plains, while the residential development at Big Thicket Lake Estates shows the area's modern growth. Historical footprints are preserved in small community burial grounds like Romayor Cem, Concord Community Cem, and the McNulty Family Cem.
