Matlin Mts and a series of intermittent drainages dominate this high desert landscape in Box Elder County. The terrain is defined by the northern reaches of the Matlin Mts and isolated elevations like Airplane Hill and Coyote Hill. Water management in this arid environment is evidenced by the Cliff Reservoir and several scattered wells located near Dove Creek. This 1991 revision, based on earlier aerial photography, shows a sparse network of unimproved roads and four-wheel-drive trails connecting remote landmarks like a Storage Bin and various surveyor benchmarks. The map captures the specialized hydrology of the region, where Runswick Wash and Warm Spring Wash channel seasonal runoff through the open basins and hillsides.
