Russellville and its eastern surroundings are defined by the lowlands between the hills of Crow Mountain and the watercourses that feed the Arkansas River valley. The modern expansion of the city is evident near the Russellville Regional Airport, where industrial and commercial corridors give way to a network of rural settlements. Areas like Center Valley and Moreland maintain their historic character through numerous small burial grounds, including Old Baptist Cem and Saint Paul Cem. These sites, along with Washfield Cem and Paschal Cem, provide a geographical record of the families who settled this part of Pope County. The hydrology of the area is well-documented, showing the path of Galla Creek as it flows toward Galla Creek Lake, and the winding route of Gum Log Creek through the north-central terrain.
