Russian Settlement Cemetery serves as a significant genealogical marker in this high-desert landscape, located just east of the topographic feature known as Russian Knoll. The terrain is defined by the prominent Matlin Mountains to the south and Baker Mtn rising in the northeast, creating a complex drainage system through which Dove Cr and Cotton Cr flow. These seasonal waterways support several small impoundments, including Baker Hills Reservoir and Trail Pass Reservoir.
