Nightingale sits at the base of the Nightingale Mountains in this high-desert region of Pershing County. The landscape is defined by the significant topographic rise of the Sahwave Mountains to the northeast and the prominent Nache Peak to the south. Central to the area's geography is the Sage Hen Valley, a wide drainage basin through which the intermittent Sage Hen Wash flows toward the south.
