Galveston extends its reach toward the southwestern tip of Galveston Island in this modern topographical study, where the land narrows into a ribbon of sand and coastal development. The community of Bay Harbor and the residential stretches of West Beach occupy this vulnerable threshold between the calm waters of West Bay and the open Gulf of America. A network of local roads including San Luis Pass Rd, Mendocino Dr, and Flamingo Dr serves these coastal neighborhoods, which are situated just northeast of the natural breach known as San Luis Pass.
