Nez Perce National Forest encompasses this high-elevation wilderness in north-central Idaho, where a complex network of ridgelines and alpine basins defines the landscape. The topographic data reveals a concentrated cluster of high mountain lakes at the southern end of the quadrangle, including the Gospel Lakes and the pair known as Knob Lakes. This area is punctuated by prominent summits such as Pyramid Point and Gospel Hill, which overlook the headwaters of numerous drainages. Forest access is provided by unpaved routes like Natl Forest Develop Road 444 RD and Hungry Ridge Rd, which trace the spine of the mountains to reach remote lookouts. The map captures the rugged interior of Hungry Ridge and Sawyer Ridge, illustrating the difficult terrain that historically isolated this portion of Idaho County, primarily used for timber management and wilderness recreation.
