Sawyer Ridge and the high country of the Nez Perce National Forest dominate this mid-1990s survey of central Idaho. The landscape is defined by the steep elevation changes of the Gospel Hump Wilderness, where topographic detail tracks the descent from Gospel Hill and Pyramid Peak down into deep drainage basins. Water sources are abundant in the high basins, including Lower Gospel Lake, East Gospel Lake, and the cluster of alpine waters at Lower Knob Lake and Middle Knob Lake.
