Scotchman Peak towers over the rugged interior of the Kaniksu National Forest and Kootenai National Forest on this 1980s provisional survey. Situated along the boundary between Idaho and Montana, this area is defined by sharp elevation changes and a dense network of mountain drainages. The map records several high points, including Savage Mountain, Goat Mountain, and Sugarloaf Mountain, which dominate the skyline above the complex of water systems.

An Open Pit Mine near the northern edge of the sheet indicates late 20th-century resource extraction, while primitive 4wd roads provide the only motorized access into these steep basins. Water moves from the heights via Lightning Creek, Blue West Fork Creek, and Webb Canyon Creek, eventually reaching basins like Little Spar Lake.
