The high-country terrain of the Beaverhead National Forest defines this part of Beaverhead County, dominated by the prominent peaks of Selway Mountain and Black Mountain. The hydrological network is led by the Big Hole River in the northwest, which is fed by numerous drainages including Englebaugh Creek and the curiously named Bloody Dick Creek.
