The N Fork Sheyenne River winds through the northern and eastern portions of this landscape, carving a distinct valley through the prairie of the North Dakota plains. Near the northern boundary, Trappers Coulee creates a significant break in the terrain where it meets the river valley. This 2014 survey documents a predominantly agricultural area defined by a strict grid of section-line roads, including 34th Ave NE and 40th St NE. The cultural footprint is sparse, centered on the Saint Boniface Cem in the southern portion of the quadrangle near the Pierce Co and Benson Co line. The map illustrates the persistent intersection of the natural drainage system of the Sheyenne headwaters and the systematic land divisions that characterize rural North Dakota.
