Stoneville Flats anchors the southwestern corner of this Carter County landscape, where the high plains of eastern Montana transition into a complex drainage system. The terrain is defined by a series of numbered waterways that indicate early distance-based naming conventions, including Sevenmile Cr, Fivemile Cr, and Ninemile Cr. These ephemeral streams create a network of draws and coulees that have historically dictated the placement of ranching operations and primitive routes. Six Mile Ln provides one of the few named terrestrial connections across the northern sections, cutting through the township and range boundaries that organize this rural expanse. Farther east, the headwaters of Owl Cr, S Fork Owl Cr, and Crow Cr further illustrate the watershed's significance to the local topography and its impact on land use patterns.
