The Shamrock Hills rise as a prominent north-south ridge line through the center of this high-desert landscape in Carbon County. The terrain is defined by its drainage patterns and water collection points, most notably the seasonal flow of Separation Cr and the marshy basins of the Mahoney Lakes. To the southwest, the topography levels out into the broad expanse of Separation Flats, while the northeastern corner is marked by Willow Draw. This area serves as a significant transit corridor for hikers and outdoorsmen, as the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail winds through the northeastern quadrant. Modern infrastructure is limited to remote access routes such as BLM-3206, reflecting the open, undeveloped character of this section of the Wyoming basin.
