Shannon City occupies the southeastern corner of this landscape, positioned along the border between Union and Ringgold counties. The town is organized around a grid of streets including Spruce St, Pine St, and 1st St, with Union St marking its northern boundary. The surrounding rural landscape is defined by the headwaters of several major regional drainage systems. The Grand River flows through the south, while the western and central portions of the quadrangle are carved by the E Platte River, the E Br Middle Platte River, and the winding course of Plum Cr. This area is characterized by a high-density section-line road network, reflecting the intensive agricultural use of the Iowa prairie. Major local routes such as Co Hwy-J13 and Ringgold Union St provide primary east-west connectivity across these riparian corridors.
