Sheep Creek Divide forms the central backbone of this remote landscape in Wallowa County, where the high ridges and deep drainages of the Wallowa National Forest intersect. The terrain is characterized by a series of prominent high points, including Mid Point Divide to the north and Beeler Ridge and Morgan Ridge to the south. This network of ridges separates numerous seasonal and perennial watercourses that flow through narrow canyons, such as Cold Canyon and Indian Cr.
