Sherrill Hills and Bald Butte define the topography of this high plains borderland where the Nebraska Panhandle meets eastern Wyoming. The landscape is characterized by a complex network of seasonal drainage features, including the aptly named Grandma Davis Draw, Delores Draw, and Swope Draw. Water management is central to the area's geography, evidenced by numerous small-scale impoundments such as Piester Reservoir, Keel Stock Reservoir, and Swope Reservoir that dot the semi-arid terrain.
