Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument encompasses a large portion of this Phillips County landscape, protecting the remote and visually striking breaks of the Missouri River. The terrain is defined by the Shetland Divide, which separates the drainages of Winter Creek to the north from the intricate network of coulees to the south, including Coyote Coulee and Hideaway Coulee.
