The Red River defines the southern boundary of this landscape, where the agricultural plains of Choctaw County meet the winding river bottom. The area is marked by a grid of rural roads, including E 2100 Rd and N 4280 Rd, which connect small communities and family landmarks. The southeastern portion of Hugo appears in the northwest corner, near the significant Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Several smaller settlements and historical sites are dispersed throughout the region, such as Shoals, Fallon, and Ord. A high concentration of family and community burial grounds, including Shoat Springs Cemetery, Durant Cemetery, and Jones Cemetery, suggests a long-standing local heritage. The drainage system is dominated by north-to-south flowing waters like Owl Creek, Carney Creek, and Horse Creek, which feed toward the river border.
