The high alpine terrain of the North Cascades defines this area of Whatcom County, anchored by the massive bulk of Shull Mtn and the surrounding peaks of the Pasayten Wilderness. This landscape is primarily accessible via a network of long-distance routes, most notably the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trl which traverses the central mountains through high-elevation crossings like Devils Pass and Sky Pilot Pass.
