The coastal village of Siasconset and the eastern reaches of the island are depicted here during a period of transition in the mid-20th century. The settlement pattern shows the concentrated shoreline grid of Codfish Park alongside the early development of Sankaty Avenue and Burnell Road. A clear Abandoned Railroad Grade traces a path through the interior toward the village, marking the legacy of the island's rail era which had ceased operations by this time.

Maritime and aviation infrastructure is prominent, from the Coast Guard Loran Station at Tom Nevers Head to the Nantucket Memorial Airport in the south. The landscape is defined by the unique topography of glacial valleys like Nobadeer Valley and Madequecham Valley, interspersed with isolated landmarks such as Altar Rock and the high point at Folger Hill. To the north, the sprawling coastline of Coatue Beach and Nantucket Harbor remains largely defined by its natural points, including Pocomo Head and Wauwinet.
