Little Pilot Peak and the high ridges of the Cedar Mountains dominate this arid landscape on the border of Nye and Mineral Counties. This high-altitude desert terrain is characterized by a series of vital water sources tucked into the foothills, such as Humdinger Spring, Simon Spring, and Well Spring. These scattered points were critical for early transit and livestock in an environment defined by the broad Ione Valley and the steep elevation of Cedar Summit.
