Angoon sits at the heart of this coastal study, positioned along the shores of the Gulf of Alaska and Favorite Bay. The landscape is dominated by the sprawling reaches of the Tongass National Forest, which covers the fractured shoreline of Admiralty Island. To the west, the waterway of Chatham Strait separates the primary landmass from several smaller features, including the notable Killisnoo Island and the sheltered Killisnoo Harbor.
