About this map

Chatham Strait serves as the central artery of this coastal survey, dividing the eastern shore of Chichagof Island from the western coast of Admiralty Island. Along the Chichagof shoreline, the presence of Gypsum (Aband) near the mouth of Gypsum Creek points to the region's early industrial history, where mineral extraction once reached the water's edge at Iyoukeen Cove. The topography is defined by significant inlets and peninsulas, including the Iyoukeen Peninsula and the opening of Tenakee Inlet to the south.
