Skagit Peak and the surrounding high-altitude wilderness define this 2020 study of the North Cascades, where the borders of Okanogan National Forest, Mount Baker National Forest, and the Ross Lake National Recreation Area converge. The landscape is marked by a complex network of glacial drainages including Lightning Cr, Freezeout Cr, and Three Fools Cr, which carve through deep basins like Welcome Basin and Elbow Basin. The absence of developed roads is notable, with only the unmaintained route of Freezeout providing limited access through these steep elevations.
