The Canada United States border forms the northern limit of this high-elevation wilderness, where the Pasayten Wilderness meets the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The landscape is dominated by the steep drainages of Lightning Creek and Three Fools Creek, providing a look at a region where human infrastructure is limited to remote outposts and footpaths. Evidence of early back-country management and recreational use is preserved through labels for the Deer Lick Cabin, the Little Fish Shelter, and the aptly named Nightmare Camp.
