The international boundary between British Columbia and Alaska defines the northern reaches of this mid-century survey. Along the Klehini River, the Haines Highway provides a critical link through the mountainous corridor, passing near the border outpost at Pleasant Camp and a notable Pipeline. To the south, the landscape is dominated by massive ice fields and active glacial systems, including the Jarvis Glacier and the expansive Boundary Glacier.

Evidence of early mining and habitation appears at Porcupine, situated along Porcupine Creek before it meets the Klehini River. The southern portion of the map covers the northern edge of Glacier Bay National Monument, marked by the peaks of the Takhinsha Mountains and the braided channels of the Tsirku River. The terrain is characterized by numerous named peaks such as Flower Mountain and Mt Harris, rising above complex glacial valleys like those of Saksaia Glacier and Tsirku Glacier.
