Soledad Mountain dominates the northern landscape of this Mojave Desert region, rising above a grid of local roads and highways. The area reflects a history of desert settlement and transportation, with the Sierra Hwy and Silver Queen Rd providing primary access to the scattered outposts of Actis, Gloster, and Ansel. These small clusters of development are situated amidst a series of notable geological features, including Gem Hill, Fiss Hill, and Tropico Hill, which define the horizon between the developed tracts.
