Hole In The Rock Rd bisects this portion of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, tracing a path through the high desert of Kane County. The landscape is defined by its dramatic geologic shelf structures, most notably the Fiftymile Bench and the prominent Straight Cliffs that drop toward the east. This 2017 survey documents a network of seasonal drainages and crucial water sources, including Fortymile Spring and Cottonwood Spring, which have sustained travelers in this arid environment for generations.
