Lake Ridge and the Boundary Hills dominate this high-elevation terrain along the border of Utah and Wyoming. The landscape is defined by its seasonal hydrology and complex relief, where ephemeral drainages like Christy Cr and Rabbit Cr carve deep into the plateau. The eponymous South Lake and the smaller North Lake are centerpiece features of this basin, surrounded by distinctive geologic landmarks such as Red Knoll and Goblin Gulch. To the southeast, the Bear River enters the frame, marking a stark transition into the broader river valley. Isolated water sources including Stirrup Spring, Mud Spring, and Big Bend Spring provided vital points for early livestock operations and range management in an otherwise arid environment. This 2020 edition documents the remote borderlands between Rich County and Lincoln County, where Co RD 207 provides one of the few improved access points through South Lake Canyon.
