The Mosquito Range dominates the high-altitude terrain where Lake, Park, and Chaffee counties meet, anchored by the prominence of South Peak. This 2019 survey documents a landscape defined by dramatic drainage systems, including the headwaters of the S Fork S Platte River and the eastern reaches of the Arkansas River basin. The area is largely managed as public land, split between the Pike National Forest and San Isabel National Forest.
