Lincoln National Forest occupies the southwestern corner of this survey, marking a rugged transition along the border of Chaves and Otero counties. The landscape is defined by a dense network of drainage systems and intermittent water features, where the arid environment necessitated the construction of numerous catchments. Prominent among these are S Taylor Tank, Lower Trabane Tank, and the uniquely named Fuck Tank.
